Interview with Frank Scheidt, Managing Director of Marcus Transport GmbH
They are the experts for difficult and complicated cases. Marcus Transport GmbH from Wuppertal in North Rhine-Westphalia shows its particular strength when it comes to company relocations and installations as well as special transportation. Another area of expertise is the transportation and rental of forklift trucks. The long-established company has more than 85 years of experience and offers its customers both personal and professional services.
“Company relocations and installations are our biggest area of activity,” explains Frank Scheidt, Managing Director of Marcus Transport GmbH. “We take care of all the logistics when a customer wants to replace a machine, for example a 40-ton press. We are the strong partner where things get difficult. In confined spaces – even upwards – sometimes millimeter work is required. We have the necessary special equipment: trucks, mobile cranes, car cranes, loading cranes and mobile cranes, air cushions and heavy forklift trucks. We also take on complete company relocations, offer everything from a single source – including the necessary permits – and take the stress away from our customers. As a team, we have the expertise to assess how what works.”
In addition to company relocations and assembly work, Marcus Transport also takes care of special transportation and has two dedicated teams for local and long-distance transport. This mainly involves the transportation of forklift trucks and machinery.
In the forklift segment, the logistics experts have around 600 trucks in their own fleet, including an increasing number of electrically powered vehicles. The focus here is on the rental of particularly heavy and large forklift trucks. This range is rounded off by service – also for third-party forklifts – as well as the necessary training.
Clearly continuing to grow
Founded as a transport company in 1936, the company started with special transportation in the 1960s. In the 1970s, company relocations were added and around a decade later, forklift truck rental and the necessary service were added.
Today, Marcus Transport employs 130 people. This year, the company opened a branch in Cologne in addition to its headquarters in Wuppertal in order to serve local customers directly. “We serve all industries right across the garden,” says Frank Scheidt. “This includes DAX-listed corporations as well as medium-sized and small companies. We handle between 50 and 70 projects a week and have handled around 1.5 million forklift transports to date. Our catchment area for removals and assembly is the Bergisches Land region, but we handle transports throughout Europe. We clearly want to continue to grow and be a pioneer in special logistics solutions. Our business thrives on the combination of experienced specialists and specialized machinery.
